BUNNELL -- Be brought up summer, Flagler County students will be stocking up on polo and button-down shirts and simple jeans and slacks.
T-shirts and ripped jeans won't be welcome at school next year.
The Shape Board met for a two-hour workshop meeting Wednesday morning to formula out the terms of the new uniform policy OK'd last week. Starting in the fall, Flagler County students must don collared shirts with jeans or khaki, black or dark down in the mouth bottoms.
The policy won't become official until board members approve it during a ruly meeting. Superintendent Janet Valentine said she'll meet with crew to decide how they'll let families know about the new rules and how they'll enforce them.
The school province already has a countywide dress code, but it's not consistently enforced at every school. Some enter members say they hope requiring students to wear uniforms will cut out inappropriate and gang-related clothing. They also say they hope uniforms will arrogate level the playing field for poor and affluent students.
