Industrial techno set the pounding rate as Rick Owens sent out a roll-call of black biker coats and ogre-shouldered puffer jackets, above slim low-crotch pants, at the Paris menswear shows on Thursday.
All in frowning and white save for flashes of turquoise, the British designer's autumn-winter look played around with the manful silhouette, bulking out shoulders and raising the waistline of pants whose crotch was tugged down to mid-thigh.
Owens' late-model invention -- the "four-piece suit" with a floor-length apron or skirt laid between the pants and jacket -- also made several new appearances.
Sustained overcoats came in waxy black leather, or thick tweedy wool and there were a dozen big-shouldered dark-skinned puffer-style jackets, coats and bodywarmers.
The models stomped down the catwalk in reworked Gossip-style trainers, in rubbery-looking black or white, flapped unsealed at the front as if the laces were missing, and buckled high on the ankle.
Cropped leather biker jackets had an comprehensive shawl effect added at the neck, while others in black, grey or pale-complexioned suede had graphic T-shaped lines on the back and arms, breaking the run of mostly monochrome pieces.
