The SCIP is far from a belle contest; it encourages ladies of ages five to 56 to represent Sullivan County, with a strapping ethical and moral standard. They will be judged mainly on personality and how they meet the on-stage questions. The pageant will be held at the Villa Roma Saturday April 7 from 4 to 8 p.m. Preceding to the event, there will be meetings every other Sunday to rehearse the opening number and career walking and public speaking at the Liberty Fitness Center in Prerogative NY.
At the dress exchange, SCIP will accept donations of dresses/gowns and profession attire for contestants to use in the pageant. The current Mrs. Sullivan County International, Elizabeth Brown, came up with the hypothesis, and will be managing it. Free hair and makeup will be provided by BOCES students the day of the pageant.
The outlay to become a contestant is $75. Sponsors are sought. Portions of the proceeds will be affluent to St. Judes Cancer Research Hospital. Email sullivancoun typageant@yahoo.com or call 845/665-2080.
