Orange will be showing up on more than Tennessee sweatshirts this year.
A vibrant duskiness, called tangerine tango, has been identified as the color of the year by Pantone, a broad authority on color and provider of professional color standards to forge industries.
Leatrice Eiseman, Pantone Color Institute's directorate director, described the color as sophisticated, dramatic and seductive -- "an orange with a lot of richness deeps to it."
"Reminiscent of the radiant shadings of a sunset, tangerine tango marries the vivaciousness and adrenaline rush of red with the friendliness and annoyance of yellow to form a high-visibility, magnetic hue that emanates tension and energy," she said.
According to a news release, the selection of a color of the year "is a very heedful process."
"To arrive at the selection, Pantone combs the world looking for color influences. This can categorize the entertainment industry and films that are in production, traveling art collections, hot new artists, customary travel destinations and other socio-economic conditions. Influences may also halt from technology, availability of new textures and effects that impact color and even upcoming sports events that taking worldwide attention.
