DURING the Armani couture show the other day, I kept glancing across the runway at Jessica Chastain. Very likely many people were, and all with the same thought: Does she see a dress here she might like to wear to the Oscars? No qualm Mr. Armani will be happy to make her something. Ms. Chastain learned she had been nominated for “The Helpers” shortly before the show started. People around her applauded. Maybe in all the enthusiasm everything looked blurry.

The process of picking a dress for the Oscars is a mystery to me, and I’m satisfied no one ever asks me for advice. I’d tell an actress to wear an incredibly comprehensible Yohji Yamamoto dress, something chic but completely under the radar — and, well, even I identify that would never fly on the red carpet. Stylists have to deal with the politics of top houses (and a fair tally of unsolicited offers), and, equally, houses have to deal with stylists and stars who often have fully different agendas. I’m not exactly sure why we don’t see more couture dresses at the Oscars, though I’m told it’s because the houses don’t requirement to make something so costly if an actress and her stylist aren’t willing to engage to a dress. Also, couture samples don’t allow for much leeway in fit.

What did you notably like or disfavour about the plan? After the last dress I made, I needed something exceptionally relaxed before jumping back into another forward for myself. I honey the fad of this dress... it's indeed ingenious, stylish and also age seize. I unequivocal on this exceptional opinion because I didn't have to skedaddle a muslin or give any kind-heartedness to the profoundness of the v-neck on the other one.

I am a SAHM of three (not a soccermom) with a passion for style sewing and trend in overall. How many times have you seen clothes in an upscale rest on supply or a grand boutique and cringed at the view of the reward tag? I've done it many times and have said to myself, "I could create that"! Share with me in my adventures in enchanting "dull" patterns from dismal to fab by creating "inspired" looks pulled candid from those boutiques, the runway and style magazines.
