After affluent through a rough grind, facing one of the state’s toughest schedules, Plainfield Dominant was hoping for a fun evening on its Senior Night.

That’s just what the Wildcats were able to do as they honored nine seniors before claiming a 66-12 Southwest Prairie Talk victory Thursday over Plainfield South.

The Wildcats (10-7) won all but one of the seven contested matches while getting six waived victories against the short-handed Cougars.

“We have nine seniors and all of them are four-year wrestlers,” Wildcats cram Jim Kappas said. “We’re very proud of that number since it’s the most that we’ve had since I’ve been here. Today was all about celebrating their accomplishments.

“For the last month, our match has been top-tier. We’ve taken some lumps, but these guys believe in each other and know that they have our fortify. We’ll keep sticking together and working hard because our goal is the end of the year.
