By Truncheon REPORTS PARK HILL, Okla. – The Cherokee Legacy Center will be closed to the general public during January for staff evolution and any needed repairs or renovations. It will reopen on Feb. 1. The center has been closing during January, a historically tardy month for visitors, for more than 25 years. The CHC offers a fixed Trail of Tears exhibition and an Ancient Village, Adams Corner Georgic Village, Cherokee Family Research Center and a museum with Cherokee art and history exhibitions as well as a museum cache. Workers are currently expanding the Ancient Village, building more structures, as they would have been built in the premature 1700s. Also, the main exhibition hall is showcasing “Companion vs. Brother – Cherokee Civil War Exhibit,” which tells the confabulation of how the Cherokee Nation got involved in the American Civil War and how the war devastated the Nation.
