On January 21, at 1:15 p.m. two boyish men attempted to run out of the Frontier Wok restaurant located at 1311 N. Hollywood Way, without paying for their lunch.  A waitress at the restaurant yelled at them about not paying their bill.  One suspect, described as a virile Hispanic 18-20 years old, ran out the door onto Hollywood Way and disappeared. The sponsor suspect, John Douglas Benne, 18, of Burbank, was stopped by the head waiter and two Charter Communications employees who were eating in the restaurant and came to the ma’s aid. When the waiter grabbed the suspect’s arm to hold onto him, Benne reportedly turned and struck the ma in the head with his skateboard.  Benne then ran from the restaurant, fleeing northbound on Hollywood Way.  Officers called to the chapter located Benne in an alley near Chandler Blvd. and Avon St.  He was categorically identified as the man who struck the waiter.

Benne was placed under arrest for aggression with a deadly weapon, and defrauding an innkeeper.  His bail was set at $30,000.   The ma sustained abrasions and swelling to the left side of his head.
